89/90. AS LONG AS WE'RE TOGETHER (Part One) September 11, 1978 |
| Poor economic conditions cause the Ingalls to move closer
to Mary. Mary is now teaching young kids at the blind school. Laura
catches an orphan, Albert, stealing from their hotel. Charles becomes
friends with Albert and invites him to Mary's birthday party. Charles
even sells his fiddle to buy Mary a gift. At the party, Mary gives Pa
his fiddle back. Laura gives Mary a card. Mary is so proud of Laura
writing the letter in Braille. Almost everyone is in tears, including
Mrs. Oleson, when Mary announces that she has nothing to wish for, since
she has everything that she could possibly want.

91. THE WINOKA WARRIORS September 25, 1978 |
| A blind student feels he is useless. He is reluctant to
do anything at the blind school. The student gains self-confidence when
he is talked into being the quarterback for the Winoka football team. He
is able to throw Albert across the goal line during the game to score
the winning touchdown for the Winoka Warriors.

92. THE MAN INSIDE October 2, 1978 |
| Amelia, a new girl that Laura meets in school, is ashamed
of her very overweight father. Her father works at the blind school
where Mary works. All the blind students like him a lot. They claim that
they can see his love. One day, Laura and some other students from
school, start making fun of the overweight person, not knowing that they
were making fun of Amelia's father. When Laura discovers the truth she apologizes
to Amelia but Amelia still denies that its her dad. Amelia's
father pretends to leave town to work on a railroad since his girl is so
ashamed of him. He hides out at the blind school. When he is involved in
an accident, Laura tells her dad and he goes to the family, they rush to
his aid and Amelia reveals to her dad how much she loves him, and how
sorry she is.

93/94 THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME (Two Parts) October 9, 1978 |
|
The Ingalls, Olesons, and Garveys get tired of the bustling city life
and decide to return to Walnut Grove. The Ingalls take Albert along with
them. They get home and discover a town that is badly in need of repair.
With a lot of hard work, they're able to get the town back to its old
self.

95. FAGIN October 23, 1978 |
|
Laura
is jealous when Charles spends all his time helping Albert, his adopted
son, about how to raise a newborn calf. When Albert overhears Charles and
Caroline discussing Laura's jealousy, he decides to run away. When Laura
shows he calf at the fair and she wins first place, she reveals that she
owes the honor to her "brother" Albert, who was the one who
prepared the calf for the show. Albert is secretly watching from behind a
gate, and Charles sees him and chases him down. Charles convinces Albert
that the family loves him and everything works out

96.Harriet's Happenings 10/30/78 |
|
Harriet
Oleson begins writing an editorial in the newspaper called "Harriet's
Happenings". Things are good at first but become
bad when Harriet starts writing prejudice things about a German
family. One day at church, while Reverend Alden is away, Charles is giving
the sermon. To try to show Mrs. Oleson that she was wrong for saying the
things she did against the German family, Charles asks Mrs. Oleson to come
up and read a German bible for everyone. When she can't read it, Mrs.
Oleson realizes that a German family is no different than any American
family.

97. The Wedding 11/06/78 |
|
When
Mary decides to marry Adam, her parents begin talking about having
grandchildren, and about how rambunctious Mary was when she was young.
Mary begins having second thoughts, afraid that with them both blind they
won't be able to care for a child, as the child could run off and they
would have a hard time keeping track. Mary decides to call off the
wedding. When a huge dust storm arises and one of the blind students does
not make it back to the school, Mary and Adam go out to find her. After
finding the student, Mary realizes she is more capable that she thought.
The wedding goes on and they are happily married by Reverend Alden

98. Men Will Be Boys 11/13/78 |
|
Jonathan
and Charles allow their boys to prove their manhood by allowing them to
take a trip to Sleepy Eye by themselves. Jonathan and Charles secretly
follow the boys. The boys end up making the trip with no problems at all.
However, the fathers get into some embarrassing situations following their
boys

99. The Cheaters 11/20/78 |
|
Andy
Garvey's mother is embarrassed by her son's performance at school. In desperation she hires Nellie Oleson (her star pupil)
to tutor him. Nellie reveals to Andy that she cheats to get good
grades. She blackmails Andy to keep the secret. Andy eventually admits
what he has been doing and his mother makes sure that Nellie isn't able to
cheat on the next test.

100/101. Blind Journey [2 parts] 11/27/78, 12/04/78 |
|
When
the blind school closes up, the people of Walnut Grove decide to make the
old Reverend's house a blind school. Charles leads the 25 students to
their new school. Harriet is eager to go with Charles to pick up the
children because she hears about their teacher, who isn't blind,
Hester-Sue Terhune. Harriet says the name Terhune is very prominent and it
must be a sophisticated woman with a great upbringing. She buys new dress
and even wears a wig. But when she meets Hester-Sue she is very
disappointed to discover she is black. In the end it takes the words of a
little blind black boy to teacher he asks why Mrs Olsone didn’t like
him, her that prejudice is
wrong, and Harriet becomes nicer

102. The God Sister 12/18/78 |
|
Charles
and Jonathan Garvey leave Walnut Grove for a month to work for a telephone
company, putting up poles between Springfield and Sleepy Eye. Carrie is
very lonely while he is away, and creates an imaginary friend, Elissa, who
is her alter ego. Suddenly Carrie's lonely hours become exciting
adventures, and she relives her dream almost every day until her Pa
returns.

103. The Craftsman 01/08/79 |
|
Albert
learns a painful lesson about prejudice when he becomes the apprentice of
80-year-old Isaac the only Jew in Walnut Grove. Though young Albert is
branded a "Jew-lover" and beaten up by local boys, he refuses to
turn his back on the old woodcarver, who teaches him the value of pride
and tradition. Albert and Isaac become good friends

104. Blind Man's Bluff 01/15/79 |
|
After
a boy is in an accident, he pretends to be blind to keep his parents from
getting divorced. Laura discovers that the boy isn't blind, but doesn't
tell his parents because the boy pleads with her not to. The boy is
involved in another accident and has a concussion. The concussion causes
him to not remember his pretending to be blind

Laura
and Albert decide to play matchmakers for the upcoming dance

106. The Sound Of Children 02/05/79 |
|
The
Ingalls are filled with joy when Mary announces she is expecting a baby.
Then Adam's father arrives, who offers them a chance to move to the city.
Adam has never been close to his father, but his father offers him a
chance to work for his law firm. They decide to go, until it is discovered
that the only reason he wanted them to come was because of the baby Mary
was carrying. After Mary miscarries, Adam's father no longer wants them to
come, and Mary and Adam decide they are happier in Walnut Grove anyway |

107. The Lake Kezia Monster 02/12/79 |
|
Kezia,
a friend of Laura and Albert, believes she shouldn't have to pay taxes.
The property goes up for sale and Mrs. Oleson buys it. Mrs. Oleson agrees
to allow Kezia to be their servant. To try to get Mrs. Oleson off of the
property, Laura and Albert tell Nellie and Willie that a monster was in
the lake. They start haunting them and biting their feet in the water and
making load noises at night, but the best joke of all is when Laura,
Albert, and Andy dress up as a big monster and scare them off the
property.

108. Barn Burner 02/19/79 |
| The
town faces a growing problems as the price of wheat is falling. The
farmers agree to sell their wheat at a set price. However, one person in
town sells to somebody at a lower price because he didn't want a black
person to get the same price for wheat as he did. Mr. Garvey goes to the
man's house and embarrasses him in front of his wife. The man goes to
Garvey's home, but only Andy is there. He knocks Andy unconscious. When
Andy awakens, he brings a lantern outside and takes off on the horse to
warn his dad. After finding his dad, the Garveys return to find their
barn on fire. The man who knocked Andy out is charged with the crime,
their family, and the whole town, believe the he set the fire and a
trail is held, even though he pleads his innocence. But Andy finds a
broken lantern in the remains of the burnt barn and begins to wonder if
he accidentally set the fire that night. In the end he tells the judge
that the fire might have been his own fault, and the man is found
innocent.

109. The Enchanted Cottage 02/26/79 |
| The
Ingalls are thrilled when Mary begins to distinguish light from dark,
and they believe that she is getting her sight back. Mary is taken to
the specialist only to discover that a brain impulse was causing her to
see light when she felt the heat from the sun coming through a window.
Laura and Albert have been fixing up Mr. Edwards old cabin for Mary and
Adam, certain that her sight is returning. But the only colors available
at the Oleson's Mercantile are purple and pink. When Mary returns, she
thanks Laura and Albert for doing it for her anyway, and that it is okay
her sight is not returning, as she is no worse off than before. And
considering the color they painted the cabin, Mary is almost glad she
cannot see it.

110. Someone Please Love Me 03/05/79 |
| Charles
stays with a family while looking for some horses to buy. The children
of the family asks Mr. Ingalls if he could possibly do something to keep
their parents from splitting up. Thanks to Charles talking to the
husband and the wife, they decide to stay together and work things out.

111. Mortal Mission 03/12/79 |
| Two
men need money to survive the winter so they sell lamb meat they know is
infected with anthrax. Several people in Walnut Grove get sick, so
Charles and Mr. Garvey travel to Springfield to pick up medical
supplies. On the way back, a man holds them up and takes the wagon.
Charles and Jonathan follow him to his house. The crazed man's wife
finally convinces her husband to let them have the medicine. Charles and
Jonathan make it back. Several people die in this show including the men
who sold the meat. There is a brief period in this episode where Laura
actually goes blind due to being infected with anthrax.

112. The Odyssey 03/19/79 |
| Albert
and Laura leave home to run away with their friend, Dhillon. Dhillon,
who is dying from leukemia, wants to achieve his life long dream of
seeing the Pacific Ocean. They take a freight train, and are halfway to the
Pacific Ocean when Charles catches up with the trio, and he decides to
take them the rest of the way.
